Elections 2021

Per Yale Club of Utah bylaws, Yale Club of Utah members  include any Utah graduate or former student of the University; parents, spouse or partner of any Utah graduate or student; and faculty and staff of Yale University in the state.    Members are allowed one vote  per election.

We hold elections every year for some of our Board Member seats and every other year for our Officer positions.   In March 2021, elections will held for all officer positions and some board directors.    Questions should be sent to yaleclubofutah(at)gmail.com.  You may also use the contact page on this website.

Yale Club of Utah Leadership positions:
  • President and Association of Yale Alumni (AYA) Delegate
    • ​Coordinates overall activities
    • Interfaces with AYA
    • Develops meeting agendas
    • Works with all officers and committees to assist and coordinate their duties
    • Keeps and maintains archives with Secretary and IT officer
    • Oversees board succession planning with the nominating committee
    • Ensures club's activities and processes remain in compliance with club objectives and goals. 
    • Has the power to appoint members to carry out duties and activities for club purposes.
    • Is an authorized signatory on accounts.
    • Ex officio on all committees.
  • Vice President
    • Performs duties of President as respectively assigned or in event President is unable or unwilling to perform duties. 
    • Works with members to develop programming, budget for events. 
    • Strategizes to accommodate membership's broad constituents and interests. 
    • May share responsibility with Treasurer in event Treasurer is unable to fulfill duties at any given time.
  • Secretary
    • Records minutes
    • Creates newsletter
    • Keeps membership records up-to-date.
    • Helps maintain archives. 
    • Shares responsibility for and access to electronic accounts (including website) with IT officer and at least one other Board member. 
    • This position may be held by the same person as IT officer, if feasible.
  • IT and Communications Officer
    • Responsible for all electronic communications with membership, working with Secretary to post timely Club communications via electronic means
    • As the primary account holder for various electronic means of communication, responsible for maintaining accounts.
    • Shares responsibility for and access to electronic accounts (including website) with at least President and one other Board member.
    • Helps lead and guide decisions for using electronic means to conduct Club business.
  • Treasurer
    • Keeps financial records
    • Has primary access to monies
    • Responsible for legal and accounting compliance.  
  • Board Member (three seats available in 2019)
    • Attend 2 board meetings per year;
    • participate in committees;
    • attend, support, participate in programs and events;
    • help club fulfill mission/objectives;
    • bring personal and professional expertise and that of others to support club.

​Terms last for two years. Officers also serve on the YCU Board of Directors. Detailed descriptions of each role can also be found in the bylaws.  All Yale alumni with a residence in Utah are eligible to serve in an elected leadership position.
